Ad-Dawr * A female employee working for a US army base is killed by gunmen. Basra * Four hundred British and Danish soldiers raid policemen's homes and arrest fourteen "rogue elements." * Twenty schoolchildren are wounded by a roadside bomb targeting a British patrol. Baquba * Two police officers and an employee of the Water Resource Ministry are killed by gunmen in separate attacks. Karma * A US marine is killed by small arms fire. Kirkuk * A civilian is killed and two others wounded by a car bomb targeting a police patrol. Ramadi * A cameraman working for Baghdad TV and at least one other civilian are killed in clashes between US forces and insurgents. * A US military base is attacked with mortars, small arms and medium machine-gun fire and responds by calling in aircraft that kill five suspected insurgents in a cemetery and wound a woman and a ten-year old child with Gatling guns in strafing runs. January 25 Baghdad * A US soldier is killed and another wounded in a roadside bomb attack. * At least two people, including a policeman, are wounded by a motorcycle bomb targeting an Iraqi police patrol. Ishaaqi * Five bodyguards in the convoy of an Iraq army Brigadier are killed and two others wounded in a roadside bomb attack. Ramadi * A US soldier is killed in a rocket attack on his vehicle during combat operations. Samarra * A Sunni cleric is shot dead by Interior Ministry forces after he fails to slow his car as he approaches a security checkpoint. January 26 Baghdad * Gunmen attack a convoy of oil trucks with rocket propelled grenades, setting at least one truck on fire. * A policeman is killed and three civilians are wounded by gunmen. * Two clerics are killed and the sister of one of them wounded when gunmen opens fire on their car. * A roadside bomb kills a US soldier and wounds another. Kirkuk * The brother of a leader in the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan is shot dead by gunmen. * A member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party is killed by gunmen. Mahaweel * A civilian is wounded by a roadside bomb targeting a Shiite mosque. January 28 Baghdad * Two US soldiers are killed in a roadside bomb attack. Falluja * Two policemen are killed and three wounded in a roadside bomb attack. Ishaaqi * An Iraqi employee of a US military base is killed in his house by gunmen. Mosul * Two Iraqi soldiers are killed and four are wounded by a roadside bomb targeting their patrol. * One civilian is killed and three others are wounded in an explosion. Ramadi * Four civilians are killed by gunmen while leaving a mosque. Tikrit * Four Iraqi National Guard soldiers are killed and five wounded in a car bomb attack on their patrol. * A former lieutenant general in Saddam Hussein's army is killed when a rocket hits his house. Tuz Khurmatu * An oil tanker driver is killed and three tankers destroyed in a car bomb attack. January 29 Baghdad * Six people are wounded in four separate and coordinated car bomb attacks outside of four churches. Baquba * A policeman is killed and four wounded when gunmen open fire on a security checkpoint. * Two policemen and five civilians are wounded when gunmen fire mortar rounds then start shooting at a police patrol. Eskandiriyah * Ten civilians are killed and two others wounded by a roadside bomb. * Eleven civilians are killed and five wounded by a bomb planted outside a sweets shop. Kirkuk * Three people are killed and 11 are wounded in two car bombings outside of churches, which occur simultaneously with similar attacks in Baghdad. * US forces kill three Iraqi suspects wearing police uniforms and wound another. Ojah * Four Iraqi soldiers are killed by a suicide car bomber. Taji * ABC news anchor Bob Woodruff and his cameraman are seriously wounded in a roadside bomb attack.
