Poll - voters overwhelmingly support public option, blame Obama for failure

Source Democracy for America

A poll conducted for the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America by Research 2000 shows that voters support a public option in the health care reform being drawn up by Congress by a 2-to-1 margin, and an even larger proportion think that President Obama did not do enough to prevent Sen. Joseph Lieberman (I-CT) from killing the public option. The poll further shows that most voters do not believe that the legislation's current mandate forcing Americans to buy private insurance could be described as "providing" health care to the uninsured. Voters oppose the mandate by a margin of 51-38%.
